Dallas teams that matter

It’s been a few days, but i thought I should make a mention of some things.

I am so proud of the Rangers. I was excited when the season started for the first time ever, and I think it’s because I began appreciating the sport more. I didn’t watch every game, but i followed as much as I could and like most other Ranger fans, watching this group of hard working, close knit players who have a real passion for the game (without an owner for the season) kick ass and take names really shows what the power of determination can do. I feel that they are making baseball fun again, and it’s a much needed boost.

Now on to The Dallas Stars who started the season with a bang. I’m also really proud of these guys who basically told all the media to go F themselves. They are far from a perfect team, but you can see that they are working hard to improve upon the few things that are holding them back (PP, PK, SOG to name a few). I feel that if Lehtonen can stay healthy, if they can continue to score the way they have, and if they continue to have the work ethic they have so early, they will be back where they belong. The playoffs.

Quick review of Capitals V. Islanders game.

What to say?  The Capitals were unable to get the puck out of their own zone.  Their forecheck was rather atrocious and with key players like Semin, Ovechkin, Laich, Backstrom, and mostly Green, they should have dominated the game.  The Islanders played with a fury and tenacity that can only be described as quasi playoffish.  I know its only the beginning of the season, but perhaps Bruce Boudreau (Capitals coach) should do some line work regarding time of shifts and players.  I can say that the backup goalie for the capitals was superb without much help from his d-line (Green included).
The Capitals won the game (thanks to Ovechkin, and increasing their PP percentage to 2-16), the Islanders played harder and in my opinion better, but in the end, this was game of back-up goalies, and the less experienced one prevailed.
